Downside to hosted email security services?

Hi,

The company I work for needs to renew it's anti spam solution and we're currently considering hosted email security
services, such as Postini Email Security from Google or MessageLabs Hosted Email Security from Symantec. So far,
everything I've found through my researches suggests that hosted services are the way to go nowadays. I could hardly
find anything negative about these solutions, although I'm sure can't be all good... So are there any downsides to
these solutions compared to deploying the solution in house? As far as catching SPAM and malware, are the hosted
services better/worst/the same as traditional software deployed in house? From a security standpoint, you're pretty
much granting access to your emails to a third party, but should that really be a concern considering emails are pretty
much as confidential as postcards? This risk can always be mitigated through the use of encryption... Any input or
experience with these services you may share would be appreciate
 d.

Thanks,

George
