I haven't used it myself but I don't see why not I can see advantages. Use a longer range tag/scanner and you can track them coming and going out of the building. Use a writable (write the serial number and description on the tag), short range one and you could perform physical inventory just by walking through the office, possibly put the tag inside the computer case so it's not visible making the bad guy less likely or at least slower to peal the tag off, lose your laptop in the mall or airport and just show up with a scanner to help find it ... http://go.techtarget.com/r/6303606/4739563/2 - this is a short, 6 pg, intro to RFID basics http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid14_gci1229781,00.html?track=NL-102&ad=578179USCA&asrc=EM_NLN_1047944&uid=4739563 - this article makes the point that you should be careful what info you put on the RFID card ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This list is sponsored by: InfoSec Institute Learn all of the latest penetration testing techniques in InfoSec Institute's Ethical Hacking class.
