That's actually a very good point-I know because using nc to pipe a block
image of a 40gb drive was an overnight operation.
The other day a USB from a box to an 'ultra' ATA drive was 40Gb in 45
minutes using adepto. This included the verify/hash stage.

Hello,

This maybe irrelevant, but in software based disk duplication
utilities, the software isn't usually the bottleneck. It is the
interface over which the data is being transferred. If you are using
USB interface to connect to a SATA drive, the transfer rate is on
480Mbit/sec (0.5 Gbit/sec). Whereas if you use a eSATA interface you
can get transfer of 3Gbit/sec. That is about 6x faster.
