Crash Monitor....

type msconfig in your run box, and take a look at what programs you have loading up at startup time, probably one of those programs is causing
degradation to the performance of your pc, also keep an eye out for p2p applications.. in my case when I suspect of a virus/root-kit or
something similar I have an antivirus(avast), spyware removal(microsoft spyware removal), also chek out (windows defender) from microsoft, and
(spybot search and destroy) all of them are free... I run them all, so far I've got great results....also consider (stinger) from
mckaffe....I suggest you hit them with all three and I bet you, it's going to find something....also do your regular hard-disk clean up,
and also check your hard drive for fragmentation as all this things could cause your computer to slow down, it doesn't necessarily have to
be rootkit related....after all this things your pc is still acting up... "BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM"...wipe clean your computer(format) and
reinstall

hope this helps

Subject: Crash Monitor

Hello list,

my wife using Win 2000 + MS Office to writing her thesis. Of course
there are also such important tools like a Skype, ICQ ...... etc. (you
know ... ) At now it is daily that this PC is crashing. I don't know
why. It is possible to detect the crashing application? Do you know some
tool (something like DrWatson.)? The PC ist patched, Event Viewer show
nothing.
The most probably case is: ca. 1 hour after login hanging this PC up.
Independently of runnig applications. After restart its work normally.

Thank you in advance

Martin
