gcc stack protection

Dear list,

I want to do some research on buffer overflows and I need to run some
sample exploitable code. However my gcc has stack protection enabled.
Probably it would be just simpler to use an older compiler without the
stack protection, but is there another way to overcome this protection
or disable it from the compiler?
