Hello,
Simply - there is no technological manner of automatically detecting ALL possible cameras.

You may be able to detect wireless cameras, but many save to their own memory and have to be physically collected
later. In fact - with the inability to control the environment in a public mall, the later is more likely.

The first example page - the detector will not detect non-optical digital pin-point cameras - ie most of the newer
digital ones.

Number 2 detects hard wired camera, but again misses non-optical digital pin-point cameras.

Etc.

In the cases where there is a non-optical digital pin-point camera in use, you can scan for power output, but the
presence of electrical cables will foul the readings - so it could still be placed along the line of a light cable and
escape detection.

You could (if you knew the location of cables) run an induction detector around, but this would be a slow process -
(something like running a stud detector around an entire room to map all the cables and beams used in the frame).

That stated, reasonable care and due dilligence would be covered with use of any of the devices you have already
attached to your post. You could be 95%+ certain that there was no camera in the dressing room and from a business risk
prespective this would suffice and would also stand up in court as having made a reasonable effort and due care.

Scanning high level board rooms (such as those at HP is another matter)

Regards,
Craig

Subject: Seeking a solution for detecting hidden cameras

Hi all,

I have been asked by a client to find a solution for detecting cameras
in dressing rooms etc. The client has trial rooms where customers can
try various garments. The concern is that some one could plant a
camera in one of these rooms and photograph customers.

I have checked online and have found the following sources;
http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/sf-103.html
http://www.spytechs.com/bug_sweep_equip/vcd_43.htm
http://www.pimall.com/nais/countervideo.html
http://www.intpro.co.uk/pinhole.htm
http://www.intpro.co.uk/camera%20detector.htm
Are there any others? Has any one on this list tried any such
solutions? I have found an interesting reference on hiding and
detecting cameras at
http://www.tentacle.franken.de/papers/hiddencams.pdf
