doubt about TCP/IP linux implementation

Hello,

I have a simple doubt about how linux kernel manages network 
interfaces. The question is, suppose I have one interface without IP, 
but I load the module and have link. If I put it in promiscuous mode, 
that interface will receive all packets in the net it is in, but those 
packets will be mangled by kernel TCP/IP implementetation or not?
I hope that my question would be clear enough.
