The advantages of Hamachi VPN:
1) easy of use
2) software based - no need to purchase hardware
3) freeware - costs zero
4) works with Linux and Windows.

The disadvantages of Hamachi VPN:
1) proprietary
2) requires Internet (you have little control over it)
