You can also boot from a liveCD which would not load your original operating system but still let you have access to the hard drive. Murad Talukdar's advice is a good starting point, and if that doesn't work, boot from another device or hard drive. Write notes of what happens when you turn certain things off and run apps. Check eventid.net for hints on what the different events mean in eventviewer. Check heat as well--some mainboards have gauges to monitor temp etc. What leads you to think that RR is wrong? Netstat and tasklist can show you some stuff that may be upsetting things.
