So long story short is your employer does not permit split tunneling (smart move on their part), but you want to print to a locally networked printer. The next step would be to find out if you employer blocks port 631. 631 tcp/udp (if you go by IANA's info - can't remember which CUPS uses) is the port on which Internet printing works. If that's blocked, then unless you somehow tunnel back to your own network you won't be able to print. My advice is to take the low-tech approach and plug a parallel or USB cable into the printer and connect the other end to your laptop when you want to print.
