Does anybody knows a free software application that runs on Linux for generating per protocol/port bandwidth usage information (graphics or raw data) ? By now I *think* www.ntop.org would suit my need. Am I right (anyone with experience on that)?
Yes. ntop is a nice program. Display network usage by machine and also by protocol/port/bandwidth. And run in web mode too.
Could snort generate such data?
A snort can be configured to run in three mode, sniffer mode, packet logger mode, Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) mode and Inline Mode Atte: -- Alonso Caballero Quezada aka ReYDeS - ReYDeS () gmail com http://alonsocaballero.informatizate.net - LRU # 307242 http://www.informatizate.net - http://www.SWP-scene.org http://www.RareGaZz.org
