Those of us that currently work in a SOC can help you with making the environment a good place to work so you avoid the pitfalls of places we currently work in. The best thing I can say at the moment without too much detail of what you want is, a projector/big plasma screen can be your SOC's best friend. This is the easiest way to have your monitoring tool(s) displayed easily for everyone to see. -----Original Message----- From: tony [mailto:tonytorri () yahoo com] Sent: Wednesday, 17 November 2004 11:59 a.m. To: Terry S; security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Re: Designing a Security Operations Center - Looking for Ideas Terry, It might help if you give everyone an idea of your background/expertise in this area. Building a data center requires a solid understanding of building construction techniques, telecommunications, security, fire, water, electrical expertise...to mention a few. Are you a beginner in this area, an engineer, etc. Are you talking about large data center, small, etc.
From an auditor viewpoint...I have reviewed the control, security and
operations of hundreds of data centers over the last 20+ years. Your vague questions opens up thousands of questions. --- Terry S <dts15 () yahoo com> wrote:
Hello to all, I have been tasked to design a Security Operations Center (SOC) for my company and wanted to know if there are any good papers, links,
books.....?
I am also looking for anyone who has done one and what advice you can provide? Thanks, Terry
