Best way to ID peer to peer wireless cards' host?

What is the best way to identify wireless devices and their hosts
advertising themselves as peer's, not access points?

I'm interested in finding out which host is allowing its network card to
allow connections.

What threats should I be concerned about.

I've successfully connected, but can't figure out how to get any identifying
information.  I can't seem to get any netbios/ip info using standard
scanning systems, and can't get ethereal to see traffic on my wireless card.
