Project Goal: Connect two computers, on two public networks, to secure data transfers between the two. Ex: Offsite backup. If anyone can recommend any hardware solutions that would establish a secure connection... I was looking into Cisco 1712 series...
I don't think there is a firewall vendor out there now-a-days that doesn't do IPSEC VPN's. I've used SonicWall, Cisco, Nortel and CheckPoint, all of which have great VPN functionality. Also you could easily setup two Linux boxes to do the same, but seaming you have a reasonable budget that's not much of a solution. Personally for ease of use, SonicWall's line has always been good, just make sure you watch out for the extra licensing for VPN in the lower-end models.
