Hello. Is anyone aware of a tool that can scan computers and determine
what version of IE is installed? I'm getting ready to deploy the
latest IE patch from Microsoft and need to find out what machines have
what version of IE installed.

Thanks,

Shavlik HFNetChkPro can do that (www.shavlik.com) - either command line or GUI scanning. Free version will scan ten
machines at one time. it'll differentiate between different versions of IE and their SPs and even versions of IF
specific to OSes. For example, it will detect IE6 on Windows XP different than IE6 Gold on Windows 2000 (as these two
require different patches). It will also detect IE6 on Windows Server 2003 vs. other IE6 versions. The free version
will also deploy the right IE patches to the right machines, though only to the first ten machines you deploy to, then
it won't deploy to any other machines.
