Some workstation w/ xp , apeared w/ the administrator ( local ) password
changed , anybody now
how i can change that password again , w/ the permissions of a normal
user. I do not know of a way to change this from a standard user account. You can try l0pht crack (http://www.atstake.com/research/lc/) If the password is guessable via dictionary attack, that will get it. The full version can also do brute force. Brute force attacks take too long. You can take a look at the following web pages. They are tools that use a Linux boot disk to boot the computer and then you can change the password. http://securityhorizon.com/whitepapers/archives/ntdisk.html http://home.eunet.no/%7Epnordahl/ntpasswd/ http://www.jms1.net/nt-unlock.html Be sure to backup everything you can first!
