Essay on Internet Shutdown

Hello!

I'm doing an essay on the possible attacks that can cause a partial or
full internet shutdown and the countermeasures to prevent such attacks.
 
Facing the new anti-terrorist mood and the last DNS-root attacks I ask
to you all to point to me some useful URLs, papers, whatever on the
matter available online or offline. 
 
I just want to get the maximum sources i can.
