The simple fact is that to use mdmchk, you do NOT, as you mistakenly assume, need to have Perl installed on all 
machines.  Mdmchk can be run from a single location, against multiple machines in the domain.  All you need is a remote 
(admin) connection, as a domain admin would have, in order to access the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive remotely.

Mdmchk will detect installed modem drivers on machines that to not have their modems set to answer incoming calls.  For 
example, if someone uses their work system to dial out to AOL, circumventing your firewall, they may not have it set to 
answer incoming calls.  

You many also want to check and see if anyone has pcAnywhere or other remote control software installed.
