If you are running Apache, check out mod_gzip:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mod-gzip/

Here are some other compression solutions for various Web servers:

Subject: Data Compression

Hi,

I have several sites and all of them are running Linux. I use frame
relay to connect these sites. The mail traffic between sites is annoying
and eats almost 50% of existing bandwidth. Is there any open source
application to compress the traffic or to limit bandwidth usage between
sites under Linux (in order also to secure connection)? Thanks in
advance...

Hendra Santosa
