There are several programs around that can restrict use to the
registry...

non-administrator account have restricted access - try installing adobe
acrobat or AutoCAD 2000 on a "user" computer (not "power user").  You
have to edit keys to suppress warnings...

But if you individually want control the first program that comes to
mind is Tiny Personal Firewall...( I think the OpenSource version is now
called Kerio?!)  It lets you assign groups, allow some programs to do
this, others that, set warning levels, etc on the registry as well as
other more firewall-like things like port/source/destination stuff.

I have noticed that a software is making inventory of the HW and SW on
my PC, ( O.S. W2K Professional )it reads the data from the registry.
there is someone that knows a way in order not to make to read the
registry
