UTF-8 SSIDs in 802.11

Hi folks,

Someone has suggested that perhaps this is not appropriate:

gchar *ssid; /* The SSID may consist of arbitrary bytes */

because if the UTF-8 SSID subfield of the Extended Capabilities param
is set, we can expect UTF8 in the SSID field.

Does it make a difference whether we use gchar *ssid or guchar *ssid above?
