Size of Qt Dist

When I went to install the new version of Qt, I chose the 5.9.3 code only and the installer said that it would require
36GB of disk space. I thought this was just a mistake. It took ages to download and sure enough - 35.8GB. This
dwarfs anything I have ever loaded onto my PC. It's a UI library for goodness sake. What on earth takes all that
space?

Have I done something stupid?
