Hi, Have a look at UAT's for dissector preferences. That could be made to work. Thanks, Jaap On 09/11/2012 04:17 PM, Chris Elston wrote:
Hi List, I'd like to raise a point mentioned in https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=7711 for wider discussion. Some background: the patch attached to the bugzilla entry adds auto-detection of some L2TPv3 protocol settings to the l2tp dissector. These settings are detected on a per (l2tp) session basis, so different sessions within a capture may have differing settings for these protocol settings. The detected settings may be overridden by the user by setting protocol preferences. When they do so the setting is overidden for _all_ sessions. It would be good if there were a way for the user to override the detected settings for just one of these session contexts. Perhaps a dissector could say "I have found these<X> contexts, and they have <these> settings associated with them". The GUI would then provide a way to set the values associated with the contexts. Any thoughts? Chris.
