Yes, indeed, forgot to mention that and that's what can be considered a serious drawback. Only a Windows configuration utility is shipped and I haven't yet found out how to configure the switch otherwise. A simple http://[address] or telnet [address] yields no success. The manual doesn't mention anything of that sort either. Another thing that would have made it perfect would have been PoE. To be clear: It does NOT provide PoE. Just for information for those that have joined in on the subject some time ago: I finally acquired a Netgear GS105E and it very much fits my expectations. It can do port mirroring of up to 4 ports to one mirror port. The mirroring does preserve 802.1Q VLAN tags. Another nice feature is that you may put the mirror port in a separate port based VLAN. Then your sniffer PC goes undetected from the rest of the (customer) network. I recommend it.
Sounds like a very nice laptop-bag switch to carry around (to bad it is not powered by 5V ie USB, that would have made it perfect). One question though, it looks like the switch can only be configured by the windows utility. Can it also be configured by CLI or WEB after the utility has provided the switch with an IP address?
