Hi,

Without control over the contents of the ethereal domain it seems better to drop
the references to it from the documentation.

Thanx,
Jaap

All,

I'm not sure where to send this query, it's webmaster related.

this link is broken:

I'm hoping a Wireshark Dev has access to the Ethereal domain still....

At this link :
http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/win32/ethereal-setup-0.99.0.exe
(and mirrors)

upon execution the binary reports :
"The Installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be
the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus. You may want to
contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy. It may be possible
to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)."

While this is all fine and good to get people to search harder I legitimately
thought traffic was getting mangled at endpoints. With significant trouble,
I've confirmed with 2 different ISPs that it must be the source and mirrors
which are a problem.

Can someone update the ethereal domain indicating the project's demise and
remove this download link if no further work is to be done, especially if it's
broken on purpose ?

I don't know the trademark problems behind this or why it may not have been done
sooner, I'm simply mailing everyone for the benefit of other users running into
similar issues.

thanks,
Bryant
