sooooo you can drive an industry and root somebody's solaris machine and
prove to SOMEONE's company that this computer security bullshit isn't just
a fad and that are not wasting 60K a year for a "security" expert to hover
over security focus mailing lists and apply patches to expensive operating
systems that were shipped broken in the first place.

this industry needs an old fashioned ass whoopin.

You owe script kiddies... BIG TIME.

Yeh it's slightly off-topic, I'll stop after this =]

No, the industry dosen't owe the script kiddie. They owe the genuine
"hackers" out there (old term hackers, not the new term) that geniunly find
holes and don't do malicious acts such as website defacement, etc. The
people out there that try to help. In Australia we had such an episode when
someone found that the goverment's online tax system easily allowed you to
view other user's posted details (tax returns, etc.). And instead of
recognising the fact that this person had saved the goverment from a
potentially fatal episode of script-kiddies running around their website,
the goverment tried to put him in jail.

Anyone else praise script kiddies?
