In conclusion: Maybe this software is trustable, I don't know. Seems to me that if someone had dropped this on your system with out installing it with a known package it would be called a trojan. I really do not see the reason to call this anything else. Like to know what others think.
Hi Mark and all. I agree with Mark. As more and more of these 'free' ad supported programs are released, more and more people will will use them. In the end, it could quite possibly cause problems with privacy legislation etc etc. As in, "Ah well, all these companies track what I do, the government may as well also". If a company chooses to install usage/habit tracking software in a program, it should be stated clearly on the 'download page', not hidden away in a TOS or privacy statement that most people don't bother reading in the first place. When was the last time most of us read a privacy statement before downloading a piece of software? This is especially relevant for new computer/Internet/WWW users. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 6.5.2 -- QDPGP 2.61 Comment: Privacy is your right iQA/AwUBOMWptAiK90dv14WBEQICPQCeLWHtrdsgdIpF+NghLgxP3MkW558An3tl 7uyjG69xxodNMKzMqqPC/g05 =euO7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________ Brad Griffin Infotech devotee & e-mail addict I hunt spammers CQU Rockhampton, Australia Useful links: http://www.emailcash.com.au/join.asp?refer=B36122 http://samspade.org/ssw/ http://www.pgpi.org/ http://spamcop.net/ http://www.pc-help.org/trace.htm http://www.avp.com.au/
