I have prepared this fix for merging here: https://github.com/infrastation/tcpdump/commits/master
It builds OK on:
* MacOS 10.8.5 (the original system above)

GCC, or clang?

* Fedora 19 x86_64, GCC 4.8.1
* Fedora 16 i686, GCC 4.6.3
* FreeBSD 8.2, GCC 4.2.2

Could anybody test it on other compiler(s) and post the results here? Thank you.

I did some test builds using The Written Word's build machines, so it worked with unknown versions of GCC and vendor
compilers on:

* some assorted versions of Linux (Red Hat, I think)
* Solaris 8
* Solaris 9
* Solaris 10
* HP-UX B.11.11
* HP-UX B.11.23
* AIX 5.2
* AIX 5.3

They used to have older versions of HP-UX and AIX, as well as IRIX and Tru64 UNIX.

I'll try it on some of my OS X virtual machines (10.5 through 10.9).
