I want to monitor a Gigabit Multimode(SX) Fiber link. If use a Network Tap then: - Using one SX NIC: Can Libpcap capture packets from TX and RX NIC's connector? - Have I to use 2 different NICs to connect the fibers to the RX connectors and don't use the TX ones? ¿Configuring the NIC's autonegotation would work?
The TAP output, non-aggregated, will be two TX strands. You need two RX connectors so you need either a dual port fiber card or two separate single port fiber cards so you will have two RX connectors at your disposal. Bonding these interfaces together in linux will provide an aggregated traffic strea,. Chris - This is the tcpdump-workers list. Visit https://cod.sandelman.ca/ to unsubscribe.
