CVS log entries from 12.02.2003 (Wed) 10:05:57 - 13.02.2003 (Thu) 10:05:54 GMT ===================================================== Summary by authors ===================================================== Author: guy File: libpcap/pcap.c; Revisions: 1.49 File: tcpdump/configure; Revisions: 1.98 File: libpcap/Makefile.in; Revisions: 1.94, 1.93 File: tcpdump/aclocal.m4; Revisions: 1.93 ===================================================== Combined list of identical log entries ===================================================== Description: At least on SunOS 5.x, Digital UNIX 4.0, AIX 4.3, FreeBSD 3.4, some version of Red Hat Linux, HP-UX 11.00, and MacOS X 10.1, if a string in a shared library is static, and returned by a function in that library, the return value of that function, when called from a program, will reflect the contents of the string in the version of the shared library with which the program is running, not the version with which it's linked. Therefore we can just generate a definition of the version string and put it into "version.h", which means that VERSION can contain any string (as long as " and \ are escaped with \) rather than having to be N.M or N.M.MM. Modified files: File: libpcap/Makefile.in; Revision: 1.93; Date: 2003/02/13 07:54:59; Author: guy; Lines: (+9 -4) File: libpcap/pcap.c; Revision: 1.49; Date: 2003/02/13 07:54:59; Author: guy; Lines: (+22 -38) ------------------------------- Description: On AIX, we have to link with "-lodm" and "-lcfg", as libpcap now uses routines from those libraries on AIX (in order to load the BPF driver and create the BPF devices). Modified files: File: tcpdump/aclocal.m4; Revision: 1.93; Date: 2003/02/12 10:17:08; Author: guy; Lines: (+8 -1) File: tcpdump/configure; Revision: 1.98; Date: 2003/02/12 10:17:08; Author: guy; Lines: (+70 -63) ===================================================== Log entries ===================================================== Description: The comment in the rules for "version.h" was getting printed when "version.h" was getting built; put the comment before the rules.
