Snort 3 makes that much easier. You can create a plugin based on the example in snort3_extra/src/search_engines/.

See https://github.com/snort3.

Subject: [Snort-users] Source code of snort

I am currently using snort 2.9.13.0 and I want to apply an algorithm for pattern matching to analyze the changed
performance. But I have no idea about the source code files or what are the functions of those files. Can anyone help
me about how I can start or from which file I should start understanding the source code of snort?
Thanks
