Re: 2.9.7.x vs 2.9.8.0

I assume 2.9.9.x is the next stable Snort version. My question is, where do
you guys go after 2.9.9.x is pushed to stable? Seems 3.x is still a ways off.

Guess you could go hexadecimal and move to Snort-2.9.a.x. Gives you six more
release cycles, and plays on the theme of some programmers counting in base 16...

Also, are new features still being considered for the 2.9 branch, like new rule
keywords, protocols, functionality? Or should such work be re-focused to 3.x?

Hi Bill--

Once 2.9.8.0 is final, there will be no further work on 2.9.7.x...

Russ/All,

I noticed some bug-fu in Snort-2.9.7.6, but in researching the patches I
sent in for 2.9.8.0 beta, they cover the same stuff...Will there be any
further development on 2.9.7.x or will you be jumping to 2.9.8.0?

Bill
