NoSQL Key Value Port

I am considering having a member of my team do a port of Snort to a NoSQL key value store that provides 5us reads and 15us writes. I wanted to see if other members thought this might be an interesting undertaking, and whether of not we would see the performance gains we'd expect to see with much lower latency reads and writes. Any thoughts or ideas welcome, thanks!
