Re: Cannot install Snort with RPM file.

I was not able to get the RPM to install either. Grab the source code and compile it manually.

    wget https://www.snort.org/downloads/snort/snort-2.9.6.2.tar.gz

And I’ve always had to install libdnet 1.11 manually as well. The libdnet from the RHEL repositories doesn’t cut it.

   wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/libdnet/libdnet-1.11.tar.gz
    cp /usr/local/lib/libdnet.1.0.1 /usr/local/lib/libdnet.so.1.0.
    Edit /etc/ld.so.conf to add append a line that says: /usr/local/lib/
    ldconfig -v
