Snort based on APIs

Hello Snort Developers, I'm currently working on a Snort modularization. My goal is to separate Snort source code in modules (APIs) so another IDS developer could take only the module that he needs. To do so I need to list functions/files for each module (Packet Capture, Packet Decode, Preprocess, Detection Engine, Output). I'm separating functions and files but I'm not an expert and I need help from them. Could someone help me out on this? Sorry for grammar mistakes or unclear message. Best, Rodrigo S. Pimpão
