Options installed in the snort binary

Hi,

I installed Snort using the snort-2.9.4-centos6.i386.rpm. I am wondering what are the options included into that 
binary. Is there a way for me to find that out? What is the easiest way for to install options, like for exemple 
-enable-gre?  If I download and install the Snort source package, will it crash my previous installation?
