My IDS sensor currently runs the database, Aanval and Snort on the same machine. Is this the correct architecture? It keeps hanging frequently. Is there something wrong that I am doing here?
what do you mean by "hanging"?? if you mean "locking up and requiring a reboot" then i'd be looking at a hardware problem... especially memory and drive... i'd be testing that memory and memory subsystem with memtest86+ and letting it make numerous rounds thru all its tests... for the drive, that's going to take the manufacturer's diagnostics disk... if both of those come up clean, then it is possible that it is heat related (cpu fan stopped up) or power supply related... too low power can cause weird problems... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites.
