Did you check Snort's shutdown counts for anything unusual? You can try having Snort log in tcpdump format to see if it is getting full packets. What happens if you choose a smaller jumbo size, like 8K? On Mon, Sep 10, 2012 at 10:23 PM, 王聲浩(Sheng-Hao Wang) <howz.wang () gmail com>wrote:
Yes, I set the snaplen in snort.conf to 65535 and the MTU of interface also enlarge to 65535. Without snort inline, everything looks fine with jumbo frames. But when I queue the packerts into nfqueue for snort inline, I get the poor throughput. -- Best Regards, Sam *From:* Russ Combs <rcombs () sourcefire com> *Sent:* Monday, September 10, 2012 10:46 PM *To:* 王聲浩(Sheng-Hao Wang) <howz.wang () gmail com> *Cc:* snort-users () lists sourceforge net *Subject:* Re: [Snort-users] snort inline with jumbo frame Did you set the snaplen? But I face a weird phenomenon, when I enable jumbo frame, the throughput with snort inline decreases to very low. Here is my test result: jumbo frame baseline 525Mbps jumbo frame with snort inline 4Mbps MTU 1500 baseline 48Mbps MTU 1500 with snort inline 37Mbps My snort version is 2.9.2.3 and I use command "snort -N -d --daq nfq -Q -c /etc/snort/snort.conf". I have tried the solution of blog.inliniac.net/** 2008/01/23/improving-snort_**inlines-nfq-performance But it doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea?
