What is the best IP range to use in order to whitelist www.snort.org <http://www.snort.org> for successful updates?
I can't see how that could ever be a sustainable solution. You will be chasing changes in subnets forever. What we do is use (drum roll) proxy servers! They have open Internet access - but log every transaction and can block based on DNS names (which firewalls cannot). -- Cheers Jason Haar Information Security Manager, Trimble Navigation Ltd.
