Sourcefire VRT Certified Snort Rules Update

Synopsis:
The Sourcefire VRT is aware of multiple vulnerabilities affecting
Microsoft products.

Details:
Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-033:
Windows Media Player contains programming errors that may allow a
remote attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 16661 and 16663.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-034:
Microsoft Internet Explorer contains a programming error that may allow
a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in
this release and is identified with GID 1, SID 16635.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-035:
Microsoft Internet Explorer contains programming errors that may allow
a remote attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 16637, 16658 and
16659.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-038:
Microsoft Excel contains programming errors that may allow a remote
attacker to execute code on an affected system.

Rules to detect attacks targeting these vulnerabilities are included in
this release and are identified with GID 3, SIDs 16638 through 16641,
16643 through 16645, 16647 through 16657 and 16662.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-039:
Microsoft SharePoint contains a programming error that may allow a
remote attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) against an affected
system.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in
this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 16660.

Additionally, a previously released rule identified with GID 3, SID
16560 has been updated to include this reference for the cross-site
scripting vulnerability in SharePoint.

Microsoft Security Advisory MS10-041:
The Microsoft .NET framework contains a programming error that may
allow a remote attacker to tamper with data on an affected system.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in
this release and is identified with GID 3, SID 16636.
