What is the network adapter on the machine you are running Snort on and listening to plugged into? A switch, hub, network tap? -----Original Message----- From: Adam Szabo [mailto:adamx001 () gmail com] Sent: Sunday, September 13, 2009 12:07 PM To: snort-users () lists sourceforge net Subject: [Snort-users] first time user, noob question Hi all, I'm a beginner but i'm interested in intrusion prevention, and i just recently installed Snort on Windows. I didn't make any configuration modification, just started sniffing using "snort -v". It was interesting that all i see was UDP traffic. Where are all the TCP and ICMP packets? I know this question sounds stupid so it would be better if i just start reading some documentations and tutorials, so could you give me some helpful links? The official website wasn't too helpful.
