For what its worth, I installed YellowDog Linux on a old G4 Xserve with snort, and it runs like a champ. For future installations I will be using new Intel macs with osx most likely. I¹m in no way saying the YDL path is a better way to go, its probably not. But it makes other more linux friendly people in my environment happy. Just wanted to add that as an option. I've got a quad G5 too if that makes you feel better. :) -Marty On Oct 6, 2006, at 11:29 PM, Randal T. FWIW, I do all my Snort development on Macs these days. :) Hm, maybe I need to get myself a nice Mac Pro so I can do some x86 benchmarks....Oh Marty... say it ain't so! x86 is for the weak. I will give you a SPARC, PA-RISC or SGI MIPS box if it helps get you away from those horrible machines :-) Randy ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Take Surveys.
