Swatch is a better solution to recieve e-mail alerts from snort.
And I have posted once in this list, the step by step procedure
to install and configure swatch on unix machines. You can find
the post at

Also, refer snort archives, because a lot have been already
discussed with swatch - snort setup on this list. Use google
