Snort Configuration in large network.

Dear all,


I am configuring snort in a large network having hierarchy of switches. Portmirroring on a single switch port from all 
switches can generate tremendous network traffic on inter switch links. What is the suggested topology for this setup. 
Where can i find detailed document for Deploying such an IDS.
