Snort is not responding to the other hosts in the same network

Hi

     I have installed snort at one of our Cobalt server..I have
written a rule just for testing purpose..

alert icmp any any -> any any (msg: "ICMP Packet found";)

I am watching that , snort is responding only to the machine 
IP, where it is installed.. The other hosts on the same
network , are not responding...

Where i am missing? Any hints will be really helpful...
