Err, Not all hubs mirror "repeat" all traffic to all ports. Ever heard of an itelligent hub ?
Yeah, I've heard of and used them. The only difference I know of, though, is that the intelligent hubs have management capabilities via SNMP. I'm starting to recall some old Cabletron hub technology that could set filters to block broadcast traffic.
