Faced the same problem of snort installtion while using the snort2.0.2 tar ball on RH9.0.
ie., no execvp file error and snort failed to start up.

But the same tar ball worked without any problem when I installed snort on Rh7.3 which I had in a different partition 
on the same PC.

Solution welcome to overcome the no execvp error, from anyone in the maillist.
