Josh,

Patch is not necessary.  Read the README.ring and README.linux.  You
will need CONFIG_PACKET, CONFIG_PACKET_MMAP, and CONFIG_FILTER as well
as sym links to the linux and asm kernel include directories (see README.linux
for an example script to do this) to build a useful kernel.
