This afternoon I picked up a dozen Snort alerts for SID 108. I need some help in understanding this alert. The triggered signature said Unknown Datagram decoding problem. The documentation for SID 108 points to QAZ. The payload off the offending packet had a length of 5 with a value of 00 00 00 00 45. If I understand the Signature, it is looking for content:|71 61 7a 77 73|. I don't quite understand how this packet payload would have triggered the alert. I am rank beginner when It comes to Snort and would dearly appreciate if someone could help me understand why I got this alert. I have checked the actual box and there is no trace of QAZ and it would appear to be a false alarm. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
