Actually, the software shouldn't care if it is 192.168.1.x/24 for any value
of x from 0-255.  They are all equivalent.  If it does cause problems I
would consider it to be a bug.  Code that can handle any length netmask
should be able to deal with it.

i got the error under Win2K with IDSCenter1.1 RC4 and snort 2.01:

ERROR: No netmask specified for home network!
Fatal Error, Quitting..

i set the HOME_NET to the real local net 192.168.1.1/24.  

                                                                 ^

 

Should be 192.168.1.0/24
